What to Order at Dunkin' If You Avoid Seed Oils

Dunkin' restaurant storefront

What this guide covers: The oils in Dunkin's Glazed Donut and Glazed Jelly Donut, based on Dunkin's official Allergen and Ingredient Guide (updated July 2026).

Dunkin's classic donut dough is built on palm oil, which is not a seed oil, with only a trace of soybean oil (2% or less) inside the dough concentrate. Brewed coffee, espresso, and tea have no oil at all. The hash browns and the breakfast sandwiches are where the seed oil is.

Ordering around the seed oil

Order this

Brewed coffee, espresso, or tea, black or with cream or whole milk. If palm oil is acceptable to you, the classic Glazed and Glazed Jelly donuts are fried in palm oil, not a seed oil, which puts them among the lower seed-oil options in fast food.

Skip this

The oat milk (canola oil), and the flavor swirls and some bottled creamers, which list soybean oil.

Ask about this

The hash browns, wake-up wraps, croissant sandwiches, and the many specialty donuts and Munchkins. Dunkin' publishes item-level ingredients only for some items; the hash browns are widely reported to be fried in a vegetable oil blend. Check the current Allergen and Ingredient Guide before ordering.

What can't be made clean

The breakfast sandwiches. The rolls, croissants, and egg patties are manufactured components that carry canola or soybean oil, and there is no build-your-own path around them.

What's in the donut dough

Dunkin's own ingredient statement for the Glazed Donut reads: "Enriched Wheat Flour..., Water, Palm Oil, Yeast Donut Concentrate [Soy Flour, Salt, Leavening..., Wheat Starch, Whey..., Nonfat Dry Milk, Gum Blend..., Sodium Caseinate..., Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate, Contains 2% or less of: Soybean Oil, Soy Lecithin, Whole Egg, Natural Flavor, Turmeric Extract (Color)]..." Palm oil is listed as its own ingredient, ahead of the Yeast Donut Concentrate. Soybean oil appears only inside that concentrate, at 2% or less.

Contains a small amount of seed oil: per Dunkin's Allergen and Ingredient Guide

Soybean oil, 2% or less, inside the Yeast Donut Concentrate. The dough's primary fat, palm oil, is not a seed oil.

Why palm oil isn't the same category as seed oil

Palm oil is pressed from the fruit of the oil palm, not a seed, which puts it outside the seed-oil category this site tracks. It carries its own separate sourcing and environmental considerations (Dunkin' publishes a Palm Oil Sourcing policy) that this guide isn't evaluating here. This page is scoped to seed oil content specifically.

Our Pick

Fatworks Pasture-Raised Beef Tallow

Beef tallow is a traditional animal fat with a high smoke point, historically used in commercial baking and frying before the widespread adoption of seed oils. For at-home cooking reference.

Frequently asked questions

Does Dunkin' use seed oils?

Partly. Dunkin's Glazed Donut ingredient statement names palm oil as the main fat in the dough, which is not a seed oil. But the Yeast Donut Concentrate within that same dough contains soybean oil (2% or less), so a small amount of seed oil is present alongside the larger amount of palm oil.

Is palm oil a seed oil?

No. Palm oil comes from the fruit (specifically the fleshy mesocarp) of the oil palm, not from a seed. It's a distinct category from soybean, canola, corn, sunflower, and other true seed oils, though it carries its own separate environmental and health considerations not covered by this guide.

Which Dunkin' donuts were checked for this guide?

The Glazed Donut and Glazed Jelly Donut, both per Dunkin's official Allergen and Ingredient Guide. Both share the same base dough recipe (palm oil plus a soy-containing Yeast Donut Concentrate); other donut varieties and pastries aren't covered on this page yet.

What to keep at home instead

Dunkin's donuts and hash browns fry in a soybean or palm blend, and the sandwiches use processed cheese and spreads. The realistic fix is skipping the food and carrying a clean snack.
